Agriculture project. © CARE / Kate Holt.CARE International has two offices in the Balkans, one of which is in Kosovo. We have worked in Kosovo since 1997.
We have established a strong reputation in the region for supporting individuals and communities in need - regardless of ethnic background, religious affiliation or national origin.
CARE particularly promotes the rights of Roma people and other minorities. We support local partner organisations in their fight against human trafficking and work with young people to secure peace and stability.
Conflict resolution
Conflict has led to high levels of poverty and unemployment across the region. We are working to increase economic opportunities by supporting the establishment and growth of small and medium-sized businesses.
Another major focus of our work is promoting peace and democracy in the region. We work with forward-thinking local organisations and student associations to help them influence decision-makers to become a positive force for change.
Human Trafficking
By building capacity of local organisations and networks CARE assists governments to suppress trafficking in the region and help victims to integrate into society.
We focus our work in border communities where women are most vulnerable. We aim to raise awareness on trafficking issues through information campaigns and workshops.
